PS3 issues.

does anyone else have these issues?

it usually takes me 2-10 tries to get into/onto PSN. i have a wired connection and have no issues with getting onto XBL immediately,i sometimes have to completely power down and shut off my PS3 to get it to just stop getting stuck in the "signing in" process. i have no issues with any other wired or wireless gadget that i use on my wireless router.

now today after playing a little tiger woods golf i wanted to look to see if there was a new update for the walking dead game and i clicked on PS Store and it just goes to a black screen for minutes without anything happening.
i have to manually power off the unit which then has to go through the whole- check files, restore files setup...after going thru all that i try again without any luck. it starts ...then says i am signed out of PSN then i click on "sign in" and it just sits there trying to sign in.

i have disconnect the power to my router thinking a reset would help and then i am going to try again to sign in and try to get into the PS Store.

anyone else have these issues or is it just me with a retarded PS3?
i have forever had issues trying to get my system to sign into PSN, since i got the system its been a clusterfuck of a pain in the ass to try signing in over and over and over, or powering down over and over and over.
getting game updates or system updates is sometimes hours long adventure !

Sounds like your PS3 hard drive is about to crash from overheating (no joke either.) I do have to say that it does take a while sometimes to download updates and stuff (with that I don't know why.) I too have a wired ps3 and with the updates, it has took me an hour once to get one, but it was a big file too. Also, it seems like it really also depends on Sony's and their affiliated sites and how lagged down they are too. Again in your case though, I think your ps3 is starting to go.

Word of advice, get a personal small fan that costs like $6 bucks at walmart or something and face it towards the back of the unit, but to blow the hot air away from the unit. I learned this pretty quickly and it works well. Never had a problem with the ps3 overheating.

Sometimes i have problems with my PS3 overheating also.

Does it have to be a small fan?

I have a small personal fan that seems to do the job and is less noisy. On our nice 90+ michigan weather days, sometimes I will put a box fan behind it and that keeps it really cool, and since I have a tv stand and I can get behind the stand, I have a breeze that cools me off too since I am sitting in front of it. Like I said though, the smaller fans are less noisy and take up less space, but the box fans or any fan would work as well.

I will say I have never tried a cooling matt, but I don't plan on it either. I've heard some messed up stories with those things.

I don't have a 360 so I can't tell anyone if this works for that either.

For the older 360 models I used 3 PC fans installed into the rear of my tv stand and wired them to a transformer that plugs into my receiver in the shelf next to it. 2 for xbox. 1 for receiver. It worked well, although it would also draw in more dust I noticed.

Since I got new 360 S I have not used those fans anymore though.

again yesterday!
i had an update for sniper elite V2 .....took me 4 times (3 complete system turn offs, even the power switch in the back of unit) and 1 unplug of my wireless router (EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BOTH PS3 & X360 CONNECTED BY WIRE!) i am not sure if the wireless unplug helps? to get the download to not stop/get stuck at 27%
then i had the same thing happen late last night when trying to purchase WALKING DEAD game episode 2. this only took 2 times to completely shutdown system.
plus 2-3 separate times while playing other games yesterday i get the notice in the top right of screen that i have been signed out of playstation network or have lost connection to be more specific.
is there anything else i can do to get this to work correctly? i never have any connection losses or update issues with the X360!!
i have no problems with the router, modem or internet provider (comcast) everything else i have set to the router, modem worked perfectly fine while i was having these issues with the PS3!
HELP PLEASE!!! ANYONE!???

Hate sayin it, butg I think you're PS3 is crashing. I can suggest that you turn off the wi-fi on the ps3 (go through the settings,) and that might help since it stays on all the time. And your other problem is that you have Comcast... (hate them with a passion.) Sinper Elite is a sweet game though. Also what time were you downloading walking dead. Sometimes they do (un)announced updates and cut people off of psn.

the walking dead DL was like 10:30pm last night- i have no other issues with comcast and any other devices that are linked to the router. 1 P.C.,2 ipods,2 laptops,1ipad,2 cellphones from time to time use the wi-fi.
i am going to try to turn off the wifi on the PS3- someone at work told me i need to clear space in the memory? why would i need to do that? like a cache clear? or to remove game/games & save game info from games i no longer play.
I've had this problem before and resetting the router back to factory defaults fixed the problem
i just unplug the router i don't want to mess with settings, since i needed our IT guy from work to come to my house & help set it up correctly.

I have read online about changing IP #'s that are stored in the PS3 but i have no idea what it means and the instructions are confusing as hell.

Either way... comcast sucks because I go from having a 30 credit on my acount to 300 bill with no explaination and no rentals or anything like that. Going back to the topic on hand though, you can clear the cache and all that stuff on the PS3. Just play through your settings (I had to get rid of my PS3... personal reasons) and check out the internet options. Also going through and clearing out games you don't play kinda speeds it up (not too much though.)

I recently switched to Comcast and haven't had a single problem with them at all, then again,I'm in a major metropolis so it's to their advantage to keep the infrastructure as sound as possible.

I'm paying the same price for internet that's over 5x faster that what I was getting before with shitty DSL.

As for Whalers' issue,I think you might have to get rid of that brick and get a slim,or you might want to try this out.

Also, look around on Youtube for other vids like this. They come in very handy.

You're one of the EXTREME few that havn't had a problem with them. I worked for them, and I even had problems and I'm in a major metropolis as well.

It cold be one or more things.

it could be the port you are using in your router so try wireless if you have that option or try another port.

it could be heating up and screwing with the hardware (ive see this happen a lot I work as an I.T. Tec) so use a shop vac or canned air to blow it out and set it somewhere where it can get lots of air flow.

it could be a network card problem in this case you have to send it to playstation or if your feeling confident take apart your ps3 and use a heat gun and CAREFULLY heat the underside of the console and it should melt the solder back in place.

Hope this helps
Good luck dude!

i have never had an internet problem with them (knock on wood! cause i know im jinxing right now!) but i have had numerous annoying cable issues with them more than anything. phone and internet no problems, cable tv different story.

i have it in an WIDE open tv stand without any restrictions like this one:

i had wireless and had even less signal to my PS3 that is why i went with a wired setup,i may try a different port for shits-n-giggles, i don't overuse it for it to significantly heat up but i am going to canned air clean out both my PS3 & X360 right now.i don't think it is a network card issue
because if you look at the original post that i made i have had no issues getting on since that day until my latest post.

i may also try the ZELL youtube video suggestion & also clean out the cache and any un-used games/game info

The canned air might cause some white stubstance in your ps3... You Might not want to go that route but if you have compressed air you can go that route. Hey Whalers... just thought of this one... if you're hardlineing it to the router/modem/network/etc. it could also be that You Might have a bad wire.
