The story I've gotten from a couple sources is that the officer involved was attacked by Brown and a friend (the alleged witness) as he was responding to a call at an apartment complex. They prevented the officer from exiting his patrol car and beat him so severely while trying to wrestle his sidearm from him that he's in serious condition. The fatal gunshot was fired from within the car and the officer has remained hospitalized since the incident.

The "victim's" ties to the Vice Lords gang has been well documented and I'm sure Al Sharpton will portray this as a benevolent society dedicated to elderly care and working with the special olympics and that Brown was a National Honors Society member.

You commend everyone for not jumping to conclusions and then you proceed to do exactly that! There are a lot of "sources" that are refuting your story as well so why don't we just wait and see what the investigation shows? It's certainly a tense situation over which one would hope that cooler heads would prevail. I was glad to see that the police put away the military-style gear and approach last night and things seems to be calming down a bit.

I actually lived in Ferguson when I was a kid and lived elsewhere in North County on a number of other occasions. St. Louis is one of the most racially-charged cities in the USA....always has been. As someone who lived through the notorious race riots of the 1960s I can assure you that no one wins when both sides start resorting to violence or brute force as the answer to the problem.

I wasn't using it so much to defend the police but to remove the slippery slope argument. There is much we don't know. The media are carnies wanting to lead us by a ring in our nose for ratings.
