Wrestlers From the Past

The post on Dino Bravo in the Smackdown/Raw thread got me thinking about some old wrestlers, and I started thinking about ones that I would like to see compete again - not necessarily at the age they are now, of course.
I'm not talking about guys like Bret Hart or Goldberg that have only been inactive a relatively short time, but I was wondering who some of your favorite wrestlers from the 80s or even before were.

A few I would like to see again, in no particular order, are: Tito Santana, Nikita Koloff, Magnum T.A. and Ricky Steamboat. I think they all had the skills/moves to translate into the high-action type of wrestling that's more common now.

Unfortunately all of my favorites growing up from the 80's/ early 90's have passed. Guys like Mr. Perfect, Big Boss man, Ravishing Rick Rude. RIP.

I forgot about Big Boss Man. There was a wrestling game I used to play in the arcade when I was younger and I always used him. I knew about the others, but didn't realize he had died.

I remember watching a few fights between Sgt. Slaughter and the Iran Sheik, those were the really old days !

Say what you want about him, but I really enjoyed the King, Jerry Lawler's matches. I loved his gimmic, his look. I'm glad he's still around and hope that Vince doesn't get stupid, and let him go:nono:

I like Rowdy Rody Piper. Did anybody ever watch the one show a long time ago where somebody asked him why he wore a kilt, funny stuff? I also like Superfly Jimmy Snuka. That was a long time ago when I was real young.

Good 'ole Rowdy. I can't believe I forgot about him. Possibly one of the best, lasting gimmics in the WWE. The kilt, the attitude, Piper's Pit, The Hotrod, all made for a truly deserved Hall of Famer.

The Von Erichs (spelling) - I used to like watching them and they were fun to watch.
Van Vader - Liked his whole image.

Steamboat won't come back at least to WWE. But if he did, I would have hoped he brought hit Dragon persona back.

If he did make a comeback, I hope Ultimo Dragon stayed in Smackdown. He would give much experience to the Smackdown roster if Raw vs Smackdown came around once more. I mean after losing Eddie, you need a guy who is still in his prime.

Bring back Essa Rios aka Aguilar. He was good when he came to the WWE. Why not try to recruit him back.

If he would come back to the WWE, why not recruit Steve "Sting" Borden. True he was a WCW wrestler, but then again so was Booker T. Sting is still good after all and WWE did bring back the Hulkster once. So why not recruit Sting back in WWE?

If there was one person I'd like to see back. I'd be Marty J. True he may not be as agile as when he teamed up with Shawn to create "the Rockers". But when they were around, they were one of the best young tag teams. Sides, he would bring experience to the Smackdown roster. That is unless he's not working at Shawn Michael's gym out here in TX.

Sting works for TNA.

And the last time I checked, Marty was still employed by the WWE.

Marty was "let go" after a DUI. Poor guy was never able to get past his demons...funny, he was pegged to be the star and not HBK.

Steamboat, one of my all time favs, has stated he would only consider one more match and that would be with Flair, fittingly. These two put on three of the all time best matches in 1989.

I'd say Ultimo is passed his prime and hasnt completely been the same since his injury. I think he was let go as well...Vince wanted another Rey and apparently he thought Ultimo was, when he never really was. He was one of my favs, too.

How about my man King Kong Bundy? That would be somebody Mark Henry could feud with. Bundy, at least, had a good gimmick (5-count) and was a great heel.

Some british wrestlers like Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy. These would look out of place now days as they was big over weight wrestlers. The only time they left there feet was to splash down on someone on the canvas. Both die some years ago.RIP.

What about Junkyard Dog and The Funks,George 'The Animal' Steele and the Million Dollar Man.Also The aptain Lou Albano and wasn't Mister Fuji a wrestler too.

When did the Big Boss Man die?

I miss actual tag teams. LOD, Harlem Heat, Steiner Brothers, The American Males, Public Enemy, Nasty Boys and so many more unmentioned.
