well Saban has a bad track record with these choices. but the Giants seem to think that Molina's experince outweighs Posey potential.

If Sheets is healthy the A's have a #1 starter which will allow the other guys more time to get ready for that role.

That's exactly what I'm getting at. How many mulligans does he get? Molina just isn't good, that's the bottom line.

If Sheets is healthy, no doubt he's our number 1, but with Duke back, we've got the potential for two aces in one staff, which I like a lot. Add Anderson, who looked better and better each time he went out there last season, and we should easily be able to put Cahill back in the minors for a year or so and actually develop him.

12 hours til Spring Training! Whooo! God it sure is good to have baseball back. Time to enjoy mediocre baseball in the Bay again.:D

yet baseball in the bay area dosen't have to be medicore but the A's are tightfisted and the Giants still belive 30 somethings are better than talented but unproven 20 somethings unless they pitch.

Yeah the A's have 7 or 8 guys competing for 2 spots behind those 3 Shayd that's why eveland is a bluejay now

I was recently looking at the opening day schedule, and Phillies/Nats jumped right off the page at me. Having said that, I will shortly hereafter be taking my life savings, along with all my liquid assets and running down to the sports book to bet everything I own that Roy Halliday destroys the Nats opening day. Not to mention most of the other teams he will be facing this year. I'm not a Philly fan by any stretch of the imagination, but you've got to respect Roy Halliday and really, really like his chances in the NL, especially now that he won't be on a team that has to face the Yankees and the Red Sox a combined 38 times a season. 2010 prediciton: Hal will go somewhere in the neighborhood of 23-4, 2.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 220+ Ks and win the NL Cy Young. Anyone disagree?

I couldn't agree more! Except my statement would be amended to read "Time to enjoy less than mediocre baseball in San Diego again."

Probably has more to do with his 5.39 ERA+ and the spike in the fly balls he's given up over the past two seasons. He just wasn't very good in the end.

So the Twins lose Nathan and everbody thinks they should aquire Kerry Wood from the Indians. I think they should look into Heath Bell in San Deigo might be a better fit

All right here are some predictions.

Curtis Granderson wins the AL MVP.
Edwin Jackson wins the NL Cy Young.
Johnny Damon shows why the Yankees let him move on.
Justin Verlander pitches like he did in 2008.

God sometimes I hate being a Tigers fan.

Bell would most certainly be better, and especially since Cleveland is a division rival, it's probably going to cost the twins much more than what Kerry Wood is worth. At this point, I'm not sure, barring them being willing to deal one of their top three prospects, that they have the pieces to get a top notch closer.

Ron Washington admitted to using cocaine. Maybe not the best person to be managing Josh Hamilton?

Is anyone else hating the new hats with pair of stripes at the front of them as much as I am? Does anyone know if they're just for spring training or are they going to be used the entire season. Ughhhhh

Oh, and Ozzie Guillen has twitter account. :1orglaugh

Ozzie Guillen on Twitter now that is going to be entertaining.

I just hope the Braves can send Bobby Cox out on a high note.

^^^That would be very fitting. But I dont see it happening, NL East is way too tough. Pitching is iffy and as good as Jason Heyward might be the Phils are the early favorites for representing the NL in the WS for a 3rd consecutive year. Halladay will be untouchable in the NL. While I do want Spring Training to end so we can get to the regular season some guys need to work out their kinks to get to close to 100%. And Ron Washington what to the Rangers do with that? Doing lines in the trainers room? Got to keep him though right? Sending mixed messages if you fire him and continue supporting Josh Hamilton who is drink away from "an 18 month drug binge."

yeah John's still availble but the Twins seem to be going for an internal solution no spending more money understantable as they need to sign Joe Mauer

the Braves will do well but not playoff well

John Smoltz became an analyst for TBS.

I don't see why the precludes him from coming back. They asked him if he's coming back and all he said was he wasn't sure, but if he got an offer he'd strongly consider it.

Joe Mauer is staying with the Twins. 8 Years for $184 million.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_y...?slug=ti-mauersigns032110&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
The $23 million average annual value of the deal is higher than any player besides Alex Rodriguez ($27.5 million) and CC Sabathia ($23 million). Only A-Rod and Derek Jeter have signed contracts for more overall value and the deal more than doubles the largest ever for a catcher (Mike Piazza signed a $91 million, seven-year contract in 1999).

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue

Not picking on Mauer....hell I'd get it too if I could but think about this: that's $141,975.30 per game. If he bats 4 times a game, that's $35,493.83 per at bat (whether he plays that day or not!). Imagine taking a paid day off and getting almost $150,000 for it!!!!

All paid for by inflated ticket prices, $8.00 beers and $10.00 hot dogs. The modern sports world is SICK....and we keep buying it. I love baseball but we are all chumps.

I remember back in the late '60s when Orlando Cepeda got the first $100,000 contract from the Cardinals. People were appalled!!! LOL....:1orglaugh:mad::eek:

I hope for the Twins fans' sake that Mauer has a really good year....:D
